Durango & the Colorado Rockies
40 minutes from La Mesa RV Park you will find Durango, Colorado. A beautiful and historic town. The downtown area is full of unique and interesting shops and restaurants. Most visitors can easily spend a day exploring the town alone.
Beyond the downtown area there is a lot to do. Mountain biking, backpacking, and fishing locations are all close by. Additionally if you’d like to take a day off from driving you can always take the Durango – Silverton Rail trip. This extremely scenic trip will bring you into the quaint town of Silverton, Colorado.
Beyond the shops and activities in, you might also want to consider adding it to part of a full day trip along the San Juan Skyway. It is a 233 mile loop that runs through Cortez, looping through some of the most scenic spots in Southwest Colorado.
A short drive from Cortez
La Mesa RV Park makes for a great starting point on the San Juan Skyway. Visitors can head toward Telluride or Durango from our park and do the entire loop in a single day. Or guests can do the Skyway in sections. A day trip to Silverton and Ouray is very easy. And another day trip up toward Telluride the next. You don’t have to do it all at once, and if you have the time you shouldn’t. There’s so much to see along the way. Allow yourself the time to take it all in.
Our park staff knows the area very well, and we’re very happy to help you plan out where to go and what to see on your visit. With daily, weekly, and monthly rates available, La Mesa RV Park allows you to take your time on your visit to the area!
