Ruins in Mesa Verde
Even though the temperatures have dropped in Southwestern Colorado, Mesa Verde National Park is still open to tourists. In fact, the park is open year round.
Currently Mesa Verde’s campground is closed for the off season, but La Mesa RV Park is open for Mesa Verde visitors. And this year we’ve found it to be a very busy off season indeed! If you’re looking to avoid the crowds, this might be the time of year for you to come visit one of America’s most astounding National Parks.
Beyond Mesa Verde, there’s plenty of other touring opportunities near Cortez Colorado. Hovenweep National Monument, Painted Hand, & Lowry Pueblo are all located in the Canyon of the Ancients National Monument. For any traveler interested in the history of those dwelling in the Colorado Plateau this is a great time of year to visit these locations.
